|
Meet CornellCornell Wilson was born and raised in Lebanon, PA. He is the proud son of a hard-working and selfless single mother who worked for Bethlehem Steel and the VA Hospital before succumbing to cancer 36 years ago. Though her life was short, she instilled in Cornell the importance of serving others and giving back to the community.
After graduating from Lebanon School District (go Cedars!), Cornell attended Lebanon Valley College to pursue a life-long career of community service. He graduated from LVC with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. While in college, Cornell was the president of the student government, served as a resident assistant, was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, and worked as a residence director. After college, Cornell continued to dedicate his life to helping youth and being active in his community. His contributions ranged from being a soccer and basketball coach to serving as a foster parent, to volunteering as a Lebanon Rotary member. He was the first recipient of the Leonard Washington Community Service Award and was a recipient of the Chamber of Commerce Community Builder Award. Cornell’s professional career has always been grounded in social services. He was a house parent for Lebanon County Children and Youth for many years, where he also worked as a case manager. Additionally, he worked for the City of Lebanon as the Elm Street Manager. During these years, he completed Leadership Lebanon Valley. Cornell currently works for Your Advertiser, where he has been able to get community information into the hands of thousands of county residents at no cost to them. Cornell is no stranger to serving the community as an elected official. He was a member of the Lebanon School Board and the Lebanon City Council. He proudly served on the Governor’s Latino Advisory Committee. Leaning into his leadership strengths, Cornell previously sat on the advisory board for Lebanon County Children and Youth. Currently, he sits on the board of Union Community Care, Coleman Memorial Park, and TFEC. Perhaps his most significant contribution to the county, Cornell is the proud founder of the nonprofit group Making a Difference of Lebanon, PA, where he now serves as president. Cornell has always made it his mission to help others and serve his community. He knows that he can make a difference in the City of Lebanon by serving another term on the City Council. |
